Plenitude, Avintia Energia team up on 850 MW of solar in Spain
May 17, 2024 14:23 CESTSpanish multi-energy company Repsol SA (BME:REP) has signed a contract with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (BME:SGRE), ordering 120 MW of turbines for its four wind farm projects in Spain.
Siemens Gamesa announced the alliance between the companies on Tuesday, saying it will supply a total of 24 units of the SG 5.0-145 turbines for the new customer. The contract includes turbine maintenance services for a period of five years.
Repsol needs 20 turbines totalling 100 MW for two wind power projects in Zaragoza province. The Zaragoza duo is part of the Delta II project -- made up of 26 individual wind projects, which the group will develop between now and 2023.
Combined, the Delta II wind farms will have 860 MW of capacity, populating Huesca, Zaragoza and Teruel provinces of the Aragon region.
Four Siemens Gamesa turbines will be delivered to Valladolid province, Castile and Leon region, for two wind farms with a combined capacity of 20 MW. These two sites are part of Repsol’s PI project, which will feature 175 MW of wind power once finalised, Siemens Gamesa said.
Nacelles, gearboxes and electrical components will be manufactured and assembled in Siemens Gamesa factories in Spain, the turbine maker added.
Repsol’s four wind farms will be commissioned some time between late 2021 and early 2022.
