Equinor and Polenergia have submitted applications totalling 1440MW for Contracts for Difference in the first phase of the Polish offshore wind market.

The partners said they filed bids with the Polish Energy Regulatory Office for the 720MW each Baltyk 2 and 3 projects.

A total of 5.9GW of capacity is expected to be awarded in the first phase.

Equinor will build and operate the sites while Polenergia is responsible for obtaining all permits and management of domestic matters related to project development.

“Poland has set ambitious goals for offshore wind energy as part of a broad transformation. Equinor wants to be the lead partner in this process,” said Equinor Polska president Michał Kołodziejczyk.

“Submitted applications for support for the Baltyk 2 and the Baltyk 3 are a milestone for our projects.

“We are currently expecting on the decision of the Ministry of Climate on the maximum price for electricity in the support system for offshore wind farms. This determines the further development of these projects and the sector emerging in Poland offshore wind energy.”
