COP26 is now at its halfway point, with the global climate summit moving into its second week. And, as with most days of the conference, today comes with a theme: nature.

“Nature is in a state of collapse, and science shows that we face a surging climate crisis and an unprecedented biodiversity crisis,” said Leah Gerber, director of the Center for Biodiversity Outcomes at Arizona State University. She points to a 2019 United Nations report that found that 1 million species are threatened with extinction.
